Kipit: High-Performance Mobile App & Backoffice for Personalized Photo Products
Kipit offers users the ability to create custom photo albums, photoboxes and photowalls, selecting different materials, layouts and sizes. To validate demand for such a product, Kipit needed to launch an MVP mobile solution quickly. Beyond the mobile apps, the company required a backend system and a complete backoffice platform to manage product types, variants, discounts, prices and the generation of the final printable files.
Kipit needed to launch Android and iOS apps, along with a full backoffice system, in less than three months—a very ambitious timeline given the platform’s complexity.
The product had to deliver a smooth user experience, enable fast uploads of large images, support reliable payments via Stripe and scale to thousands of users immediately after launch.
The team required constant UI adjustments, frequent iteration and flawless integration with third-party services to deliver a product that was both visually appealing and operationally robust. Achieving this under intense time pressure while building the right multidisciplinary team was the core challenge.
Delivering a high-performance mobile app and backoffice for Kipit
We joined the project to help Kipit launch a mobile solution capable of validating market demand for customizable printed photo products. The project required Android and iOS apps, a backend powerful enough to process large images, and a full backoffice platform to manage product variants, prices, discounts and generate printable files.
Our first step was defining and prioritizing the backlog to ensure that the team could meet the tight deadlines set by Kipit’s product and marketing departments. Once aligned, we planned the technical strategy and the backend architecture, ensuring scalability and flexibility for future iterations.
We worked closely with Kipit’s product team to develop the mobile apps using Flutter, enabling cross-platform development with excellent performance. At the same time, we built the backoffice portal using Angular 2+, making it easy for administrators to manage products, prices and generate completed albums for printing.
Throughout the project, we ensured high reliability in critical functionalities such as payments via Stripe and image uploading. Fast performance, responsive UI iterations and seamless integration with AWS were crucial to delivering a stable and polished final product within the required timeframe.
