The Hannover Messe will once again be the leading knowledge and networking platform for the manufacturing, energy, and logistics industries, and promises to regain its essence after the pandemic with an event full of innovations for the sector.

Hannover Messe 2022

Hannover Messe 2022 will bring together the most important figures and companies in the industrial sector at an event that will address topics ranging from AI to robotics, automation technologies, IT logistics, industrial software, batteries, and fuel cells.

The event has become the most important industrial technology meeting in the world, focusing on digitalization and sustainability and where the keys that enable the creation of digitized, climate-neutral, and sustainable value will be given.

As Jochen Köckler, CEO of Deutsche Messe, declares, “The world needs quick solutions in this scenario: politically, economically, and technologically. Hannover Messe 2022 is the ideal scenario […]. At the heart of the matter is how we can ensure the security of supply and growth in a dynamically changing world – politically, environmentally, and economically – while counteracting climate change. Innovative technologies will play a key role in this.”

Under the motto “Let’s create the industry of the future”, it will be the meeting point for the international industrial community, whose objective will be the transformation of the sector under three pillars: innovation, inspiration, and interaction.

Hannover Messe Calendar

Hannover Messe 2022 will be divided into four intensive days from May 30 to June 2.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa will jointly open Hannover Messe. This year, Portugal is the partner country; the presence of more than 120 companies from the Portuguese country has already been confirmed. Under the motto “Portugal Makes Sense”, they will present their products and solutions for digital transformation, energy transition, and reliable supply chains.

This edition will cover topics such as energy solutions, digital ecosystems, automation, engineering solutions, and parts, global business and market, logistics, etc. In addition, there will be a focus on green energy and hydrogen, as well as the use of digitalization, automation, and AI to help combat climate change.

Hannover Messe Exhibitor List

Hannover Messe 2022 will bring together over 2,500 companies from around the world to showcase their latest technologies for the factories and energy systems of the future at the Hannover Exhibition Center.

Among the companies already confirmed are Siemens, Bosch, Schneider Electric, and Microsoft. Plain Concepts will also be present with its own booth in Hall 4 Stand E54. In addition to the exhibitor hall, the Hannover Messe will feature a main stage where pioneers and visionaries from science, business, and politics will be passing through to discuss challenges and opportunities for climate and business. And in parallel, special events will be held, the Career Congress WomanPower will kick off and various awards will be presented, such as the Hermes Award, the IoT/WT Innovation World Cup, and the Engineer PowerWoman Award.

Opening Ceremony

The Hannover Messe 2022 edition kicked off with the opening of the fair by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who made the traditional tour of the halls. You can see the summary of the first day here!

This year there was a particular focus on the megatrends of digitalization and sustainability, always aimed at the industrial transformation. We have seen how leading companies from the mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, logistics, and energy sectors, and software and IT industries from all over the world have gathered. They all showcased the latest solutions to facilitate digitized, resource-efficient, and climate-neutral production transformation.

The Chancellor also emphasized the importance of this event for Germany and industrial transformation worldwide and celebrated the fact that 75 years ago, the doors of Hannover Messe were opened for the first time.

This year’s partner country is Portugal, so Prime Minister António Costa was also able to give an opening speech. With him, more than 120 Portuguese companies will be showcasing their solutions.

Digitalization

One of the main pillars that we can see in most of the stands and talks is the use of Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Big Data, and solutions focused on energy.

The advantage of technologies such as Machine Learning is that they learn by themselves, so they can achieve better results as time goes by and get closer to the optimal state of zero waste, so it is essential in sustainability factors.

Following this theme, we have also seen solutions focused on being eco-friendly and supported by technology as a facilitating factor in this path.

Other focuses have been on technologies to improve healthcare, cybersecurity, and data protection or the digital industry and smart technology.

Hydrogen

At first glance, it may seem strange to associate hydrogen with the industry transition, but we have seen some exciting proposals, for example, in energy supply.

Hydrogen can be used everywhere, in mobility, storage, renewable energy transport, etc. In fact, the most attractive would be mobility, as you can already see school bus companies taking children to school powered by hydrogen. This shows that this subject is not only a suitable means for the energy industry but can connect local wind and solar energy production with local consumption.

Finally, we were also surprised by the proposal for hydrogen aviation, of which they promise that we will see the first flights between 2025 and 2027.

Industry 5.0 and robotics

Another topic to highlight is the concept of Industry 5.0, of which Plain Concepts has taken the lead during the event, with a transformative vision of growth that focuses on human progress and well-being, based on reducing and shifting consumption toward new forms of sustainable, circular and regenerative economic value creation and equitable prosperity.
